Snapchat I Am An Immigrant story instructions:

  • Submissions for the I Am An Immigrant Snapchat story will be accepted between 4am ET and 4pm ET on June 1, 2017

  • How to Submit to an Our Story Play-by-Play

    • Take a video Snap!

    • Tap the flashing arrow in the bottom right corner of the screen.

    • This will take you to a new screen.

    • The top option will say “Stories” and under it you’ll see “I am an Immigrant”

    • Tap the circle to the right of “I am an Immigrant”

    • Tap the flashing arrow in the blue bar at the bottom right of the screen.

    • Done!

  • Best Practices
    • Wear your I Am An Immigrant Shirt if you have one — make sure it is visible in your snap, and start your snap with “I stand with immigrants because…” or “I am an immigrant, and I am proud because…”. If you do not have a shirt, please use the caption function in Snapchat to add either #IAmAnImmigrant or #IStandWithImmigrants to your snap.
    • If you’re doing a selfie, the shirt will appear backwards. Have someone else take the photo or video for you.
    • Vertical Video — Snapchat will only add vertical video to stories.
    • Filters, Captions, Doodles & Context — Let us know what’s going on in the snap through the use of filters, captions and emojis. Help the audience understand where they are and what they are seeing. The more we know, the better the snap!

    • Move Around & Be Dynamic — Use multiple perspectives like pans, selfies, 1st person perspective, etc.

    • Sound ON —  Make sure your sound plays back. Once you take a video snap, it will automatically play on repeat for you to review.

    • Remember, the more snaps the better and have fun!
